Morley stepped through the open space, surveyed the three of them, and swept off his hat in a low mocking bow. He was good at the bowing thing.

Book review: Feast of fools, Lord of misrule and Carpe corpus by Rachel Caine

Author: Rachel Caine

Title: Feast of fools

Genre: Young Adult

Series: The morganville Vampires (book #4)
My rating!

On the Cover:
It was hard to imagine how Claire's day could get any worse...and then the vampires holding her hostage wanted breakfast. In the town of Morganville, vampires and humans have learned to live in relative peace. Still, Claire Danvers knows that after dark, her homework can take a backseat to staying alive. But this tenuous harmony is really turned on its head with the arrival of Mr Bishop. Bad to the bone, the ancient old-school vampire cares nothing about keeping the peace. Staying at the top of the food chain is enough. What he wants from the town's living and dead is unthinkably sinister. It's only at a formal ball attended by vampires and their human dates that Claire realises Bishop's plan - and the elaborately evil trap he's set for the warm-blooded souls of Morganville.

my rating

On The cover:

Morganville. Texas. Just south of normal. In the college town of Morganville, vampires and humans coexist in (relatively) bloodless harmony. Then comes Bishop, a master vampire who threatens to abolish all order, revive the forces of the evil dead, and let chaos rule. But Bishop isn't the only threat. Violent black clouds promise a storm of devastating proportions. As student Claire Danvers and her friends prepare to defend Morganville against the elements - both natural and unnatural - the unexpected happens: Morganville's vampires begin to vanish one by one. Discovering why leads Claire to one last choice: swear allegiance to Bishop...or die.

Title: Carpe Corpus

Genre: Young Adult

Series: The morganville Vampires (book #6)
My rating
On the Cover:

This title includes a brand new and exclusive morganville short story only available in this edition. In the small town of Morganville, vampires and humans lived in (relative) peace - until all the rules got rewritten when the evil vampire Bishop arrived, looking for the lost book of vampire secrets. He's kept a death grip on the town ever since. Now an underground resistance is brewing, and in order to contain it, Bishop must go to even greater lengths. He vows to obliterate the town and all its inhabitants - the living and the undead. Claire Danvers and her friends are the only ones who stand in his way. But even if they defeat Bishop, will the vampires ever be content to go back to the old rules, after having had such a taste of power?

My Review:

I´ve decided to just make one review on all three books. Lets just pretend this is another omnibus. Trust me when I say that this Author does not disapoint you. I mean how can she keep it interesting book, after book, after book? Well she does. You just want more and more and the storyline just gets more and more complex with new layers and new characters. I love that she in the third book (see review here) lets the storyline slow down and then in the fourth book (feast of fools) starts to heat up again. It really does work great. And there are always twists and turns that you do not expect. You will never be bored with these books and now there is something else on the horizon. I feel a twist in the lovestory between Shane and Claire, but who knows. One can only find out by reading the next book!

Book review: Morganville, Omnibus 1 By Rachel Caine

Title: Omnibus
(contains; Glasshouses, dead girls dance and midnight alley)
UK´s edition

Author: Rachel Caine

Genre: Young adult
My rating
On the cover:

Claire finished high school early and is attending Texas Prairie University (aka TPEwww) at the tender age of 16. Her parents wanted to keep her close to home rather than shipping their young genius off to MIT or Yale. Claire is having trouble adjusting to college life, because of a gang of girls that keep tormenting her. One day it goes too far and Claire is pushed down the stairs and badly injured. She has to find someplace else to live other than the dorm or her life could be at risk.
Claire’s chance to get out arrives in the form of an ad looking for a fourth roommate in an off campus house. Claire arrives at the house bruised, bloodied and in tears. Eve, one of the roommates takes pity on Claire and invites her in. The other roommate Shane seems to like her as well but they have to get final approval from Michael, the owner of Glass House. He reluctantly allows Claire to stay even though she is underage. They know it’s not safe out there for Claire and she finds out why when Eve explains that Morganville is run by vampires. The only protection they have is to stay inside the Glass House which has some secrets of its own.

My review:

I like this series. It's different. Claire comes to the town of Morganville, when she is 16 years old to study at university there. But the city is not very welcoming. In the corridor where she lives the popular girls tries kill her by pushing her down the stairs. She soon realizes that she is not safe where she is and can not count on any help either. She goes to a house off campus where they are looking for a new tenant. Michael the owner of the house allows her to stay despite their rules not to bring in minors. Claire also learns that the city controlled is by vampires and the people there are not more than cattle to them. This book is a bit different than other vampire books where the bad guys are vampires and the good? are people but Claire soon discovers that not everything is black or white. The books are very exciting and things happens all the time. you get carried away from the first page of the book and are turning page after page in the book to find out what happens next and how it all hangs together really. Want to read a book that you will not be able to put away from you, then you should read the Morganville series. The series includes 10 books. Next Omnibus expected to start in October and Book 11 is coming this Autumn.

Book review: Nightshade By Andrea Cremer

Title: Nightshade

Author: Andrea Cremer

Genre: Young adult
My rating

On the cover:
While other teenage girls daydream about boys, Calla Tor imagines ripping out her enemies’ throats. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. Calla was born a warrior and on her eighteenth-birthday she’ll become the alpha female of the next generation of Guardian wolves. But Calla’s predestined path veers off course the moment she saves the life of a wayward hiker, a boy her own age. This human boy’s secret will turn the young pack's world upside down and forever alter the outcome of the centuries-old Witches' War that surrounds them all.

My review:

The book is about calla who was born to be pack leader and the charismatic boy Ren has also been appointed as her betrothed. Together they will be pack leaders over the next generation of wolves, called the Guardians. But when Calla rescues an ordinary boy, it is changing her life forever and she begins to question her feelings for both the boy, Ren and her own role as a leader. What is best for the pack? This book is the first in a series. Right now it is clear that there will be three books, but who knows it might get more? The book is really exciting all the way through and Calla are actually a really interesting character. She is a strong and charismatic personality and she has a lot of fight in her. A true warrior. The book explores friendship, love and loyalty. And who is the real enemy? Something that seemed obvious throughout her life is no longer obvious, now Calla no longer know who she can trust.

Book review: The darkest powers series By Kelley Armstrong

THE SUMMONING, BOOK 1

Title: The summoning

Author: Kelley Armstrong

Genre: Young Adult
My rating

On the cover:

Chloe Saunders sees dead people. Yes, like in the films. The problem is, in real life saying you see ghosts gets you a one-way ticket to the psych ward. And at 15, all Chloe wants to do is fit in at school and maybe get a boy to notice her. But when a particularly violent ghost haunts her, she gets noticed for all the wrong reasons. Her seemingly crazed behaviour earns her a trip to Lyle House, a centre for disturbed teens.
At first Chloe is determined to keep her head down. But then her room mate disappears after confessing she has a poltergeist, and some of the other patients also seem to be manifesting paranormal behaviour. Could that be a coincidence? Or is Lyle House not quite what it seems…? Chloe realizes that if she doesn’t uncover the truth, she could be destined for a lifetime in a psychiatric hospital. Or could her fate be even worse…? Can she trust her fellow students, and does she dare reveal her dark secret?

 THE AWAKENING BOOK 2

THE RECKONING BOOK 3

My review:

This book series is really good. The books are about Chloe who is an ordinary girl of 15, until she sees people that nobody else sees and hears voices that no one else hears. Chloe begins to question her sanity when she is sent to group homes for troubled teens. Chloe quickly realize that not everything is what it seems, when more of her roommates are found to have hidden talents. Who can she trust? the books are exciting and you pulled quickly in as a reader, but I think that some things mentioned in the story is forgotten and does not return. Some events does not have a conclusion, one could say without revealing too much. And if this blunder would not have been, this series had a higher grade from me. It feels like the writer forgot to reflect upon some threads that she  began in the book, but otherwise this is a very readable serie I think.
