Our Rating
About the book:
Something extraordinary is lurking in the deep ocean waters off the coast of Aptos, California. In just a few weeks after moving to the small beach town, sixteen year old Marina has nearly drowned twice, enchanted the hottest guy in high school, and discovered a supernatural creature. If she can only manage to survive her increasingly dangerous encounters with unpredictable mermaids, she might just be able to unlock the mystery of her past to learn how to appease the mysterious forces that seem to want something from her...and maybe even find true love along the way.Between The Land And The Sea is the first book in the series "Marina's Tales". Her story continues on in book two, The Moon And The Tide. (goodreads)

Our thoughts:

We really enjoyed this book, all three of us!

It was our first time reading a story about mermaids so it was extra exciting.

Marinas character was interesting and a mix of a fashionista and a really down to earth girl.

Coming to high school for senior year is not the easiest thing in the world, especially if you have been home schooled your entire life. Things start to look up for her though when she meets the hottest guy in school named Ethan.

Ethan's character is very lovable and of course we fell for him right away.
I mean who doesn't love a well tanned/toned surferboy who also happen to have a great personality. Marinas cousin Cruz takes her under his wing from the very beginning of the story and is a great support for her especially when she is new to town. Cruz character was very different from what we have met before in storys and we love that!

The first few pages felt a little slow, but it was absolutely no problem getting into the book.
As soon as she came to Aptos the story picked up the pace and started to be more thrilling.
The book took turns that we didn´t expect and that was what made it so good.
If you like mermaids this is an absolute must read!

Saturday Snapshot #3

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce @ AT Home With Books.

Photos can be old or new, and be of any subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos that you find online.

I love the ocean and it is the favorite part for me when I visit Denmark. We have the ocean here as well but not in Stockholm. Not like this, wild and untamed! It is different to view the ocean from a city view and from a deserted beach like this, it is not the same... Not at all! And we have mostly archipelago here so it is nothing like in this picture!!

TGIF #6

TGIF is a fun little feature
hosted at GReads! Every week we re-cap what has happened on the blog plus Ginger asks a question for us to answer.

This Friday's Question:

Character Envy: If you could be one character from a book,
who would you choose & why?
--------------------------------------------------------------------

This was a really tricky one I must say! There are several characters I envy in some ways due to their personality and parts of their lives. The problem is that most of them have kind of big issues and bad stuff happening to them.I love the strength and determination that some of the characters have and that is something I wish some more of in myself.
Therefore I think I will have to choose either Claire from The Morganville series or Bella from the Twilight saga. And also they have some nice boys in their love lives hehe.

This week's question:

"The cougar is in town...Which
YA hero makes you wish they were legal?"

This one was tricky! My first instinct told me that it of course should be Patch Cipriano from The hush hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick.
Then on the other hand I, like many others have a little crush on Edward Cullen from the Twilight series. These two characters are completely diffrent, I know.
I am a sucker for rough, untamed, dangerours and muscular guys so the final answer must be Patch Cipriano.

Endless waiting..

My teaser this week is from the book "The moon and the tide" by Derrolyn Anderson

She was right to wonder about that, for the cold that would kill a human was nothing to a mermaid. /../ I glanced over to Ethan to see his face tighten, unhappy about the line of questioning.

When we went to denmark a few weeks ago we also went to a amusement park. I haven´t been to one for several years and I actually rode a roller coaster! I wasn´t sure I would have the stomach for it any more since it was such a long time since I went in a roller coaster (the one in the pic) and it was actually really fun!

Book blogger hop #7 and Follow Friday #2

Book Blogger Hop
Hosted by Crazy for books
Book Blogger Hop

Question of the week:
What’s the ONE GENRE that you wish you could get into, but just can’t.

That would be  detective stories. My mom loves them and I have read one or two but I just don´t seem to be able to finish them. And then there is science fiction. My dad loves them but me not so much and that is kind of weird in a way, because at some level it is kind of like fantasy and I love fantasy but I just can´t seem to like sci-fi all that much!

Follow Friday Hosted by Parajunkee's view
Question of the week:
Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?

Three? Well I think I have to say Richelle Mead, Aprilynne Pike and Marian Keyes. I would love to just ask them questions about their writing. What inspires them. I would also ask them for a tip or two, cause I would love to write my own story one day!
