Book review: The Wedding gift by Kathleen McKenna

Author: Kathleen McKenna
Title: The wedding gift
Genre: Paranormal, ghost story
Series: None
Format: E-book | paperback
Purchase: Amazon | B&N
More info on
the rating HERE

About the book:
Leann wasn’t good enough for her upper-crust in-laws, so they gave her the mansion none of them wanted. Years ago, something or someone in the house killed Leann’s brother. Will its violent secrets kill her next?“ . . . a spine-electrifying supernatural tale where a huge Southern States mansion contains one of the most terrifying, violent and indeed psychopathic ghosts to haunt any town. It is also a murder mystery—why did Robina Willets apparently kill all five of her young children, and her husband, before stabbing herself to death? And, if you are in the camp of believing that 'Justice . . . just is not,' then this will have you frothing at the mouth with righteous social fury.”—Tim Roux, author of Missio and The Dance of the Pheasodile

My thoughts:

What to say about this book? I liked it and I didn´t at the same time. This is a ghost story, and the story in it self was really good and it is told from Leann`s (the main character) perspective. My problem with the story was the characters, or mainly the main character. Leann who is the main character in this story really got under my skin in a really bad way! I just didn´t like her at all. If anyone of you have seen hart of dixie, just imagine Lemon in that series in the way she acts and talks. But Leann is way more shallow and self centered, she just keep on telling us how she is the prettiest girl in Dalton! She is also really naive and seems to believe almost everything she is told. So most of the book I was just really irritated with her. The second half of the book she warmed up to me just because I felt kind of sorry for her but at the same time it was kind of her own fault she ends up with the wrong dude.

But besides Leann being a pain in the as, the story was really good. I liked the idea of the story and both the plot and the writing was different. I think this could be a really good story but it is not for everyone. For me, I need to like the person I read about or I will have some trouble, but I am sure not everyone dislike Leann. I will say this, if you can look beyond an annoying main character and the southern accent this is a really good story so give it a chance if you want to.

Book review: Ties to the Blood Moon by Robin P Waldrop

Author: Robin P. Waldrop
Title: Ties To The Blood Moon
Series: yes book two is in the making
Genre: Young adult Paranormal urban fantasy romance
Format: E-book (my copy)
Purchace: Amazon

                           My Rating

Synopsis:
Genevieve was a normal teenager with normal teen girl problems...or so she thought. Shortly after Genevieve Labreck is sent to live with her aunt in Alaska she finds out her entire existence has been a big fat lie. When strange things start happening to her she seeks refuge in the arms of her new boyfriend, only to learn he's not the boy she thought he was either.

My Thoughts:
I really liked this one I must say! It was a great story with a lot of twists and turns and you really never knew what was about to happen. Robin is a great story teller and I really enjoyed her way of writing and making you completely hooked. I did not want to put the book down. In the end of the story I was completely chocked by one turn of event which I think was really good since it was something you really did not expect. What can I say, people aren´t always what say seem. The story ended with a real cliff hanger and I surely hope there will be a book two! Please please! =)
So to the characters.  I really feel for Genevieve who is completely in the dark about her whole life story. Everything as she knows it changes in a split second and she is so confused. She is a down to earth and likable character. She falls head over heels over William who is also new to town and they become a couple fast. I love William because he is really mysterious and you don´t really know where his head is at. Im not sure how much more I can say without giving away to much. You just have to read it and you will see what I mean.

I´ve always loved swords. It´s probably because of all fantasy books I´ve read and historic movies/books. It just looks so cool when you fight with swords, it´s like moving art!

"They looked like slaughtered calves. Well, to be strictly honest, Mama looked like a slaughtered calf and Jessie looked like the one who could be doing the slaughtering, but mad or not, she still didn´t have any better ideas than Mama did." p 87
"Then Mama and Daddy came inside; they just stared at us with scared faces until I thought I would scream. Mama made a little squeking sound and I reached out my hand toward her, but it was Daddy who walked over to me and sat down on the stairs beside me." p 171

INSIGHT BLOG TOUR; Book review: IMAGE by Jamie Magee

Author: Jamie Magee (on facebook)
Title: Image
Series: Insight series #3
Genre: Paranormal, young adult
Format: E-book
Purchase: Amazon |
More info
on rating here

About the book:

There is an ominous darkness, one that that is so dense and mind numbing that you can feel the chills race across your skin as the energy of the hatred behind it hovers near you. They thought that it was over…that he was dead….they never imagined that he was more powerful dead than he ever was alive.

A war is on the brink of erupting in the dark dimension of Esterious, the victory Willow had a few days ago was nothing less than vague memory. With each thought she has she fights the images of Drake’s dark eyes, his words… his promises. Doubt seeps into her soul as she stares forward and what could only be the hardest battle she has faced thus far.

Venus is meant to be the planet of love and peace….but when it falls into retrograde its influence changes. Matters of past relationships will surface; choices will be made with the mind and not the heart. Gateways to an evil that cannot be fathomed will open. Willow and Landen’s only defense is to hide their family away, and lock themselves in the palace that was once ruled by Donalt. The energy is heavy and dark within these walls…there is a presence that lingers and strikes at will. Cruel illusions are placed before Willow, but that is not even hardest part…what is hard is standing in room with Drake and Landen and listening to others tell you of lives that you cannot recall…for them to tell when and how you are going to die.
Every prediction and theory is about to be proven wrong…and the choice before Willow’s heart holds the lives of millions at stake. The question is will be she be able to see through the illusions before her and make a choice…she can live with?

My Thoughts:

This book was absolutely amazing! There are really no words. I liked the other two as well but this one is soooo much better. It is like the books she writes just gets better and better. This is definitely one of my favorite books this year. It is so well written.

I love the characters in the book both the main characters Landen and Willow and the characters around them (their family). They all grow a lot in this book mentally and gets stronger by the love they have for each other and the love they have for their family. This book takes the excitement level to a new level and this book is a lot darker than the first two in this series. I feel like this is the first time they had to face real evil.

I´m really intrigued by Drake´s character in this book. We as readers get to know him better and we see things from his perspective and really there is no way not to like him. He has the heart in the right place. I really hope there will be one more book and that we get see more of drake because he is a force to count on I think and I really want to know more about him and I want him to find his soul mate.

I want to know more and I really feel like there is more to this story to tell, so hopefully this is not the end to this amazing story!

'What´s the deal with that tattoo anyway?' I heard Marc ask.
Drake was pulling a long sleeve shirt over his T-shirt, and his eyes caught mine before he answered Marc. 'Part of it represents my name; the other part represents what makes all of this hell worth it: Willow.'
