About the book:
Convinced she’s a part of the witness protection program, sixteen-year-old Jewel Rose is shuffled around the globe with her family like a pack of traveling gypsies. After arriving at lucky home twenty-seven, she stumbles upon a mysterious boy with magical powers claiming to be her guardian. . . and warning of imminent danger. Despite the obvious sparks between them, Jewel discovers a relationship is forbidden, and the more she learns about dark, brooding Roman, she begins to question who she can even believe—the family who raised her, or the supposed sworn protector who claims they’ve been lying to her all along.

As she struggles to uncover who her family has really been running from, she is forced to hide her birthmark that reveals who she is. With new realities surfacing, unexplained powers appearing, and two tempting boys vying for her heart, Jewel battles to learn who she can trust in an ever growing sea of lies, hoping she’ll make it through her seventeenth birthday alive.

My thoughts:
Before I even started reding this book I had a strong feeling that it would be awesome since I loved the synophsis. And I was right, it was awesome! I loved everything about it.
The storyline was fastpaced and I never really knew what was going to happen. Shannon really keeps you on your toes from the start. It was really exciting to follow Jewel on the run and I really felt for her. Of course I think she is a bit naive but come on, which sixteen year old would not be. Of course she trusts her parents choices, even though she may not agree with them.
In the beginning Jewel meets the mysterious "badboy" Roman. Then she also meets the hottie Chase. He is a really nice guy and the good looks is not bad either. As the story goes on Jewel finds herself in a bit of a love triangle at the same time as she is fighting for her life. Shannon really played tricks on my mind in regards to Romans character and it really kept me wondering. Nice, bad, nice, bad. lol It really kept me on my toes. So, is Roman as nice that he would like Jewel to think? Read the book and you will get the answer....
