Book review: The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden

Title:The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden
Author: Jessica Sorensen
Series: The Coincidence #1
Genre:New adult contemporary romance
Purchase: Amazon
My Rating: 5

There are those who don’t get luck handed to them on a shiny platter, who end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, who don’t get saved.

Luck was not on Callie’s side the day of her twelfth birthday when everything was stolen from her. After it’s all over, she locks up her feelings and vows never to tell anyone what happened. Six years later her painful past consumes her life and most days it’s a struggle just to breathe.

For as long as Kayden can remember, suffering in silence was the only way to survive life. As long as he did what he was told, everything was okay. One night, after making a terrible mistake, it seems like his life might be over. Luck was on his side, though, when Callie coincidentally is in the right place at the right time and saves him.

Now he can’t stop thinking about the girl he saw at school, but never really knew. When he ends up at the same college as Callie, he does everything he can to try to get to know her. But Callie is reserved and closed off. The more he tries to be part of her life, the more he realizes Callie might need to be saved.

So, What do I think?

I came across this book when browsing Amazon for some books and I have to say that I love this cover! It didn´t hurt that the book only cost me 0,99$ on an offer.
Now that I have read it I can honestly say that I gladly would have payed like 10$ for it. That´s how good I think it was.

The story itself is very sad. We get to see the story from both Callie and Kaydens point of view which I really like.  Callie has been through extremely tough things that she has a hard time getting over since she has had to cope all by herself for the last 6 years. She meets Kayden one night, helps him and the next day she goes of to college.
Kayden is guy that is also in a lot of pain that he can´t seem to just shrug of. Which I totally understand. The things he lives with every day for most of his life would crush anyone but he learns to live with it by putting up a wall around him.
Both Callie and Kayden finally sees some light in the tunnel as they get to leave town to go to college. Only the problems don´t go away since they are both scarred for life. Kayden could not stop thinking about the girl who saved him and when they end up at the same school he tries to get closer to her. That was harder than he thought since Callie has a huge wall build around herself aswell.

This is a story that is heartbreaking and raw. You really feel with these characters and want to console them both. It is revolving around tradegy and struggle and we get to follow them through it. The book ended with a BIG cliffhanger which I could have handled better if I had the second book in my possesion but I will have to wait two months for it. I want to read it now!

This one I can strongly recommend.

Oh, I hate cliffhangers! Well, I hope the second book is as good as the first! =)
